Trusting Your Intuition

intuition Mar 28, 2025

Like many of us, I spent years overriding my intuition with logic, dismissing those subtle knowing feelings as "just anxiety" or "overthinking" or "giving someone the benefit of the doubt." What I didn't realize then—but deeply know now—is that our intuition activates to guide us toward truth, even when our logical mind isn't ready to accept it. I've learned that to access this wisdom, I need to clear my Consciousness Flow.

Understanding Your Consciousness Flow

Think of consciousness as water moving through a stream. When flowing naturally, consciousness moves through distinct stages:

  1. First, we notice changes in our environment with gentle awareness
  2. Then, we process what these changes mean to us, allowing understanding to arise naturally
  3. From there, we create appropriate energy to respond, neither too much nor too little
  4. Finally, we express that response in a way that feels authentic and true to ourselves

When this flow becomes blocked, our experience shifts. We might not notice important feelings until they overwhelm us. Our minds might get caught in endless loops of overthinking. Sometimes we react more strongly than intended, or we might freeze entirely. Often, we find ourselves struggling to express who we truly are.

Intuition works intimately with this natural flow. It acts as a gentle guide, helping us notice and trust the subtle signals our consciousness sends us before our analytical mind takes over. When we strengthen our connection to our intuition, we enhance our ability to maintain this natural flow, leading to more aligned decisions and authentic responses.

Why We Experience Intuitive Knowledge

Intuition operates at the intersection of wisdom and consciousness flow. When we're aligned with our authentic path, it guides us naturally. It triggers clear knowledge to give us access to deeper wisdom that exists beyond our conscious awareness.

I've learned that intuition often acts as a messenger of deeper truths. Beneath the quick flashes of knowing and subtle body signals lies a vast reservoir of wisdom—wisdom that's been gathered across countless experiences. We need to trust these signals, and intuition creates the necessary space for them to emerge.

The Protective Role of Intuition

I used to try to rationalize away my intuitive hits. I turned to pros and cons lists, endless research, multiple second chances, and outside opinions—anything to avoid trusting what I simply knew. It felt easier to stay in analysis mode than to trust the gut feelings.

When intuition activates, it might feel overwhelming, as though you're receiving guidance without logical explanation. And if you are anything like me, the "it doesn't make sense" feeling can be so unsettling. But that deep, clear knowing isn't random—it's a gateway leading us toward aligned decisions and authentic choices.

The Natural Cycle of Intuitive Decision Making

Advice like "just think it through" or "be more logical" might be well-intentioned, but it often leaves us feeling more disconnected than before. True alignment requires honoring the natural cycle of intuition:

  • Recognition – Acknowledging the intuitive signal
  • Trust – Allowing yourself to believe in what you sense
  • Action – Moving forward based on intuitive guidance

This cycle isn't linear. Some days, we might feel deeply connected to our intuition. Other days, we might struggle to hear it at all. Each stage serves a purpose, even if it doesn't make sense in the moment.

Navigating Your Intuitive Wisdom

If you're in this space now—whether doubting your intuition, trying to override it, or finally ready to trust it—know that your body's response is deeply wise. Your intuition isn't misleading you. It's creating the conditions necessary for aligned decision-making, even if it feels unclear at times.

It's okay to feel uncertain. It's okay to wonder if you can trust your intuition. These feelings are part of the process. What matters most is giving yourself permission to develop this relationship with your inner knowledge, without judgment or pressure to "get it right" immediately.

I've found that allowing my body to process an emotion without making immediate decisions leads to great peace. That is the wisdom your intuition is guiding you towards.

Take a moment to reflect on what your intuition might be trying to tell you. What wisdom is it holding space for? What changes is it preparing you for? Even if you don't have the answers yet, trust that they will come in time.
